Thank a Nun: Sister Maura Bartel

I am an alumnae of Our Lady of the Elms High School in Akron, Ohio. Sr. Maura Bartel was always an example of quiet strength and leadership, but she touched my life in a very special way a few years after I graduated from high school. In college, I found myself a difficult situation at the parish I had adopted. Sr. Maura was the first person to reach out to me to reassure me that everything would be okay. She was my reminder that there are strong leaders in the Catholic Church. She showed me the face of Jesus and reminded me in her actions and in her words that God is love. -Maria Kipfstuhl
