As the days go by, I am starting to feel a much stronger connection with Sister Eleanor.
Sister El has the most positive view on life. She always has a beautiful smile on her face, and it motivates me every day to smile more.
I would usually go to Sister El’s house after my physics lab, which was around 5 pm. Physics is my toughest course at the moment.
When I would enter her house, her smile immediately made me forget all about my struggles in physics. With 18 credits and 5 science courses per semester, it makes a person overwhelmed -- but just talking to Sister El, I feel so relieved.
What I notice the most about the connection I have with my sister is we have similar viewpoints in life. She and her sister wrote a letter to Congress about gun laws. That really amazed me, that there is still hope in this country.
When I was in high school, I used to write letters to Congress about social issues as well. Sister El and I love to talk about politics and world issues, which made us very close.
What I love the most about Sister El is that it’s never awkward between us. Going into the program, I was bit nervous that we would not connect much since we come from two different worlds, but I was so wrong. I have more fun speaking to her than some of my friends, believe it or not! I love that Sister El can help me grow as a person by educating me on certain issues yet still be a great friend.
Sister El is a person who will never judge and will always see the best in others. She is the reason why I believe the world is good.
