I have really enjoyed getting to know Sister Elaine Keenan. We have been together on numerous occasions, from catching up in the Caldwell University Dominican Motherhouse to eating lunch together, and each visit has been such a pleasure.
Upon meeting with Sister Elaine for the first time, I was eager to learn what her life has been like. We spent a long time talking about our families and religious lives and discovered that we had quite a few things in common. We are both from New Jersey, both went to Catholic high schools and both pursued higher education at Caldwell University. We both also have sisters; I have one and Sister Elaine has six!
Education is very important to Sister Elaine, as she taught at both the grade-school and high-school levels. She now works in the archives department of the Motherhouse on Caldwell University’s campus.
Sister Elaine then told me about her passion for basketball, a sport in which she has coaching experience. She tries to attend as many of the Caldwell University basketball games as she can!
I always look forward to meeting with Sister Elaine and being able to learn new things about her. I am surprised by how quickly I was able to open up to Sister Elaine and feel comfortable talking to her. I am so glad we were paired together and that she felt comfortable enough to be able to open up to me so quickly as well. One of my favorite moments was sharing the news of my summer internship with Sister Elaine and seeing how excited she was for me. I am so happy that I have Sister Elaine to share my excitement with.
Each time we meet, I am motivated to do my best to make her proud, and she has helped me to become a better person. I am truly grateful that we were paired together because from it I gained a new friend.
