Sister Cathy Steffens, CSJ Oral History

Sister Cathy Steffens, CSJ, a Sister of St Joseph from St Paul, MN, has been in community for over 50 years. After years of teaching elementary children and working in campus ministry, she presently offers retreats, facilitation and spiritual direction sessions to interested groups and individuals. She also belongs to the CSJ Justice Commission, is passionate about ecological justice, and teaches ecology and spirituality. Cathy is a photographer, outdoor enthusiast, and people person interested and involved in many committees. She enjoys reading, cooking, singing, swimming, biking, hiking, yoga and tai chi. She thinks heaven is not elsewhere or another time, but that God is present in all that exists now, especially our marvelous Earth.

About EJ La Valle

EJ La Valle is a senior, majoring in political science and minoring in theology at Saint Catherine University. She is a food enthusiast, a music junkie, and has been a community organizer with various organizations for the past 3 years. She thinks that everyone looks awesome in glasses and that heaven is actually a 24-hour doggy daycare. During the Spring of 2015 she was paired with Sister Cathy Steffens, CSJ; a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet. After completing her work as an oral historian she worked as a production assistant and produced the podcast Curve Riders in 2015.
