Sister Joan Tuberty, OSF Oral History

Sister Joan Tuberty, OSF has been a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, MN for more than 30 years. She was born and raised in Albert Lea by her Irish Catholic family. Professionally, she was a psychiatric mental health nurse educator and therapist. She is currently a Spiritual Counselor at St. Olaf’s in downtown Minneapolis where she also teaches Centering Prayer. She lives at Exodus Residence which is a transitional housing facility that serves persons who are mentally ill and/or homeless. She feels it is "the love of Christ" that urges her on at an age when many want retirement and ease. Her Franciscan Community provides love, support and a shared vision inspired by St. Francis and Clare which is so alive today and needed in our world.

About Carolyn Kolovitz

Carolyn Kolovitz has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies and is completing a Spiritual Direction certificate program in Theology at St. Catherine University. She is currently an intern Spiritual Director specializing in life transitions. For many years she facilitated programs with girls as they transitioned into adolescence and young adulthood. As a trained hospice volunteer she conducted life review sessions with people as they transitioned into the end of life. With all of these responsibilities she feels her most important work has been guiding her adopted daughter as she transitioned into a new life with her at the age of seven. She loves changing seasons, ghost stories, dogs and indie films and is looking forward to getting to know her Sister!
