Sister Joan Groschen, CSJ Oral History

Sister Joan Groschen, CSJ is a Sister of Joseph of Carondelet. She grew up in North Minneapolis attending Ascension Parish. She joined the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1948 and taught elementary school for 20 years. After teaching she served as the director of religious education in parishes and also worked in the diocese of New Ulm. She is an avid stamp collector; in her collection she holds a stamp from every country in the world. The money she earns from her collections goes a missionary in Peru.

About Bridget Barrett

Bridget Barrett is a sophomore at St. Catherine University, majoring in American Sign Language Interpreting. She hopes to use this in the school system where she can be the voice for kids in elementary school. She was born and grew up in the St. Paul area. Up until 8th grade she went to St. Croix Catholic School in Stillwater, Minnesota. After that she transferred to the public school system in Stillwater. At Stillwater Area High School she took a sign language class and found her love of language. During the Fall of 2015 she was paired with Sister Joan Groschen, CSJ; a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
