Sister Elizabeth Kerwin, CSJ Oral History

Sister Elizabeth (Liz) Kerwin, CSJ entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1951. After completing a BA degree at the College of St Catherine with majors in biology and mathematics she taught in Catholic high schools and colleges in Minnesota for 25 years. She spent a year of training in the art of spiritual direction in a program at Gonzaga University and then joined the staff of Loyola Spirituality Center in St. Paul, Mn. where after 35 years she continues to offer spiritual direction and retreats. She was director of the center for about 18 years. Liz is passionate about living sustainable and especially about food justice and serves on the board of Women's' Environmental Institute. Among other things she enjoys gardening, cooking, singing, reading, and being in nature. She sings with St. Catherine Choral Society and in liturgical groups at her church.

About Hannah Sipe

Hannah Sipe is a pre-physical therapy student at St. Catherine University majoring in exercise and sport science. She is from a small town in Minnesota called Big Lake where she grew up with her two parents, an older brother, the beloved family dog, a snake, and many hamsters. Hannah’s brother is in the Navy so she is always looking forward to the next trip to the base he is stationed at to see her favorite Sailor! During the Fall of 2015 she was paired with Sister Elizabeth (Liz) Kerwin, CSJ; a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
